SUBSTANCE ABUSE EVALUATIONS: WHAT TO EXPECT
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH A SUBSTANCE ABUSE EVALUATION
Substance Abuse Evaluations (SAE) are billed $75 for a 48-hour turnaround and an additional $25 for expedited service for a 24-hour turnaround (business days only). Payment is expected at the time of service. I do not accept insurance; however, I will provide you with a superbill you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I strongly encourage you to check with your insurance company to see if they reimburse for Substance Abuse Evaluations and for expedited service fees.
To get started, I will send you an invite from TherapyPortal. If you have not received it, check your spam folder. Once you open the email, it will prompt you to create a client account with TherapyNotes / WashingTONIAn Wellness in advance of your session with me. Please bookmark this site to access for your evaluation appointment.
The portal allows you to complete any paperwork and assessments online and view documents as needed. You must use your desktop or laptop computer, not your phone, to complete the forms. You will begin by completing the client information form and any online assessments. It is imperative that this be done the day before our session. If you do not complete this step, your session will be cancelled and you will not be able to reschedule until all forms are complete. Signatures are electronic; therefore, you do not have to download/upload any forms. Just fill in the blanks, sign, and submit. You must also complete the Payment Authorization Form (Credit/Debit/HSA accepted) THE DAY BEFORE YOUR SESSION, but you will not be charged until the interview session is complete or in the event you are charged a reschedule fee. If you must reschedule, I require 48 business hours advance notice (weekends and holidays are do not count), so if you have an appointment scheduled for Monday, you must cancel by Thursday during business hours to avoid the fee. NOTE: Insurance providers do not cover late cancellation/no show fees.
Your session will be conducted virtually through TherapyPortal, so you will need to sign into your client portal. If you cannot locate your portal at the time of your session, click Client Portal for WashingTONIAn Wellness | WashingTONIAn Wellness | TherapyPortal or go to my website Individual Counseling Services | Washingtonian Wellness and click on the Client Portal tab. Please allow 90 minutes for your session. Your session will be in interview format and typically takes approximately 45-60 minutes after which I will compile the information from the assessments and the interview and provide you with the evaluation report within 24-48 hours, depending on the service you chose. The evaluation will be uploaded into your client portal so that you may access it at any time and print it at your convenience. It is your responsibility to share this with any legal entities that may be involved.
